Dennis Gawlik is Purchasing Service's New Director!

Dennis joined the Procurement Services team on September 22nd.  He has held various procurement leadership positions at Amazon, Starbucks, Alaska Airlines, WAMU, and most recently, Seattle Children's Hospital.  Carla Helm is the new Sr. Associate Director.  Carla will be focusing on contract management and strategic procurement opportunities for the campus while Mark Conley, in moving into the position of Associate Director, will concentrate on customer-focused process improvement for the current purchasing services environment.  Dennis is anxious to meet with his campus customers and will be attending upcoming administrator forums or scheduling separate introduction meetings shortly.

Direct Buy Limit Increased!

The dollar threshold at which orders in PAS could be placed without seeking competition has been raised to $3,300 (not including tax and shipping).  This means that purchases up to $3,300 (plus tax and shipping) can be placed directly with suppliers by UW departments without quotations or sole source justifications.   In the event you're curious, this limit is set statutorily by the State and only increases with the Consumer Price Index, thus the small incremental increase.

Update on the Exciting New eProcurement Upgrade

The eProcurement upgrade project is moving along and is right on schedule. We just started the first of many hands on training sessions, which will run  into the first two weeks of October.  For those users that prefer lecture style, we have scheduled two sessions at different locations. The user forums will show a preview of what is coming and the hands on training will allow the users to actually sit at a computer and try out the new features. Updates to the project as well as signups for the user forums and training will be posted on:
