UW Finance Transformation

Week of 7/17 FPB Updates and Introductions

We are committed to keeping you informed about the latest developments within the Finance, Planning, and Budgeting (FPB) team. This includes updates on new content we create, and any stabilization efforts as needed.

What’s New:

We are pleased to announce the formation of FinTacc (Finance Training and Communications Collaborative), a group of training and communications creators from Finance, Grants, and Procurement. This group meets bi-weekly to discuss training and communications needs and identify synergies across FPB. The purpose of FinTacc is to:

  • Enhance training, communication, and collaboration across finance, grants, and procurement activities.
  • Identify cross-functional training and communication gaps and develop collaborative strategies to bridge them effectively.
  • Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning across the organization.

In addition to valuable conversations and resource sharing, FinTacc has created a Job Aid Template that can be used when creating or updating training content. We are excited to share it and hope that you find it helpful!

If you have any questions about how to use the templates or the FinTacc meetings, please reach out to Jasmine Gilbert at jgilbe@uw.edu.

Meet the Team: Scott Karren

Scott Karren has been involved and passionate about training, learning, and development for almost 30 years. Throughout his career, he has worked in the healthcare, real estate, technology, travel, and finance industries. He holds a Master's in Education focusing on Learning Design and Technology. Two years ago, he joined the University of Washington (UW) as part of the UWFT program, and it has been an incredible journey. He is the content management specialist for the UW Connect Finance Portal (UWCF) and is responsible for all things UWCF.

He lives in Ogden, Utah, and outside of work, he loves hiking, disc golfing, and paddleboarding with his family. When not doing those things, he is an aficionado of really bad movies. Feel free to ask him what his favorites are!
