As part of the President’s Operational Excellence initiative, Finance, Planning & Budgeting (FPB) is examining how financial operations are organized and delivered across the University and where we can make those services more consistent, effective, and accessible through financial shared services.
The Financial Shared Services workstream will explore opportunities to:
- Reduce unnecessary complexity in financial processes by eliminating duplicate effort and establishing consistent practices where variation adds no value.
- Make financial services easier for faculty and staff to navigate by clarifying roles, responsibilities, and decision-making.
- Strengthen access to financial expertise and reliable support for schools, colleges, and units.
- Make better use of Workday and other enterprise technologies to improve how financial work is performed and supported.
- Build sustainable staffing models and stronger career pathways for finance professionals.
- Improve coordination among unit finance teams, shared services, central finance offices, and policy owners.
Integration of existing shared-environment work into the financial shared services infrastructure is currently scheduled to begin in January 2027 and continue through February 2028.
The following units and schools have already been consolidated into financial shared services:
- CoMotion (added in FY27)
