University Sales Tax Exemptions - Other States

Certain states offer sales tax exemptions to organizations outside of their state. Accordingly, the University of Washington has applied for exemptions in various states based on their state law. If the University of Washington has been granted an exemption to sales tax on purchases made in a particular state, the exemption certificate will be linked below. When a department conducts business in another state it should check the information below to see if a sales tax exemption might apply. If an exemption applies, the certificate must be completed (in some cases) and presented to the seller at the time of purchase.

Note: These certificates only exempt the sales tax that would have otherwise been charged by that particular state. Washington State use tax will still apply for taxable items being shipped to or brought back into Washington.
