Yes, you are expected to sign up for [direct deposit](http://finance.uw.edu/sfs/students) to ensure that your funds are made available to you as soon as possible. Your tuition and most other charges will be deducted before any money is deposited to your account. In most cases, the excess funds will be available in your bank account within the first week or two of the quarter. **Always** check your bank balance before you write checks or use your debit card. Most businesses and organizations, including UW, charge an *insuffcient funds* fee for bounced checks. To sign up for direct deposit log onto [MyUW](http://myuw.washington.edu) and go to *Direct Deposit Transfer* under *Student Personal Services*.
