Students may apply for a short-term loan online through MyUW. Applicants will be informed of their eligibility immediately and will be able to electronically sign a promissory note online. They can have the funds applied to their tuition account balance immediately. If they are signed up for direct deposit, the excess funds will be deposited into their bank account within three business days; otherwise a check will be mailed. Be aware that these are short term loans and that payment will be due the following quarter.

If your STL is not paid in full by the due date, SFS will place holds on your ability to borrow future short term loans and these holds will not be removed until the account is paid in full. Additionally, the loan will be removed from the UW system and will be transferred to our billing servicer, ECSI.

You will receive separate bills if you have multiple loans with different lenders. For example, the University of Washington bills for: + Perkins Loans + Health Profession Loans + Nursing Loans + Institutional Loans The Department of Education services bills for: + Federal Direct Stafford (subsidized and unsubsidized) Loans + PLUS Loans

If a payment hasn't been posted, there are a couple of common reasons why. In general, follow these steps: + Note the date of your loan statement. Was it printed before your payment had time to be posted? + It's possible that your payment was received after the loan statment was printed and mailed to you, but before the payment was processed. If this is the case, you can contact the loan biller to check if they received the payment. + Check with your bank. Has your check been cashed?

Some loans have deferment options for those students who return to school after their loan goes into repayment. To see if you may be eligible for student deferment, visit the [Loan Repayment](http://finance.uw.edu/sfs/students/repayment) section of the [Student Fiscal Services](http://finance.uw.edu/sfs/students/) website.
