Effort Certifier Roles and Responsibilities
Individual faculty members or Principal Investigators fulfill the role of Effort Certifier. They are ultimately responsible for:
- the accurate completion and certification of effort reports
- making necessary adjustments to direct salary charges to grants and
- making necessary adjustments to cost sharing required to reflect actual effort

Effort Certifier Notifications
ECC generates the following notification emails to Effort Certifiers. Note: No emails are sent to PIs/Faculty if the statement is in the "Ready for Pre Review" status.
- Certification Start - Notification is automatically sent once the statement status changes to "Ready for Certification"
- Certification Reminder - Notifications are sent ten, five and zero (10, 5, 0) days prior to the certification due date for statements in a status of "Ready for Certification" (Effort Reporting Schedule)
- Statement Ready for Re-Certification - Notification is automatically sent once the PAR or PPR tasks are completed in ECC by the effort coordinator
