Effort Coordinator Roles and Responsibilities
There are two main operational roles in ECC: Effort Coordinators and Effort Certifiers (includes faculty).
The responsibilities of an Effort Coordinator include:
- Complete the Pre Review process for all ECC statements
- Make adjustments or changes to statement if necessary (PAAs/Shifts)
- Leave comments and attachments on the statement to help document unique/uncommon circumstances
- Assist Effort Certifiers (faculty/PIs) with the effort reporting process to ensure accurate reporting of salary charges made directly to grants and cost shared effort performed

Effort Coordinator Notifications
ECC generates the following notification emails to Effort Coordinators.
Pre Review Start
- Audience: Effort Statements - All effort coordinators; Project Statements - Assigned ECC Grant Manager (Account Manager)
- Notification is sent at the start of the Pre Review Period. Specific start dates can be found on the Effort Reporting Schedule.
Payroll Adjustment Reconciliation (PAR)/Project Payroll Reconciliation (PPR) Tasks
- Notification is sent if a Payroll Accounting Adjustment is processed in Workday which impacts a previously certified Effort or Project Statement. This will require the effort coordinator to complete a PAR/PPR task.
- Job Aid: Processing PAR or PPR Tasks in ECC
Note: No emails are sent to PIs/Faculty if the statement is in the Ready for Pre Review status.
