HSD and OSP assure the UW research community that our offices have business continuity plans in place and are implementing those procedures in light of King County Public Health recommendations.

Office of Sponsored Programs

OSP is able to access all UW and sponsor systems through remote access. This allows for near seamless continuity for proposal handling, award acceptance, issuance of subawards, handling of non-award agreements, pre- and post-award activities, and regular service by way of responding to emails and calls.

All OSP employees working remotely are monitoring or forwarding their phone calls and the main OSP phone line is monitored. All main email accounts are being handled per usual process.

Please make an appointment before you plan on in-person visits. At this time, you may visit our offices to drop off hard copy items, but know most of our business is electronic and we discourage hard copies.

The March 12th MRAM meeting will not be held in person, in order to support physical distancing measures recommended by the King County Public Health. Please do not arrive in person. We intend to remote “host” for the usual webcast of MRAM. Further information will be coming in a separate announcement.

For our research community, we encourage referencing the Office of Research Website, which is updated on a regular basis.

Human Subjects Division & the UW Institutional Review Board (IRB)

HSD and the UW IRBs are fully functional and operating at our standard capacity. All HSD employees working remotely are monitoring or forwarding their phone calls. The main HSD phone line is being monitored for messages. All email accounts (e.g., hsdinfo@uw.edu) are being handled as usual. The main HSD phone line (206.543.0098) will likely be converted next week to a message-only line. It will be checked every 20-30 minutes during standard work hours. The main HSD office may or may not be open for visitors next week, depending upon UW-wide decisions.

The highest priority is being given to all inquiries, requests, applications, and modifications related to SARS-COV-2 or COVID-19, or their impacts on other research.

Effectively immediately, please send any paper-based IRB materials (e.g., modifications, Status Reports) as electronic documents to hsdinfo@uw.edu or your HSD Team’s email address. RNI should be sent to hsdreprt@uw.edu.

A special COVID-19 HSD webpage has been established, with answers to many of the questions HSD is receiving. We expect to update it every workday through at least next week.
