The National Science Foundation's (NSF) September 22nd, 2020, Important Notice 147 announced:

  • Certain Funding Opportunities will begin to require Research.gov for proposal preparation and submission
    • The Directorate for Biological Sciences (BIO) will begin to require the use of Research.gov in response to its core programs that do not have deadline dates
  • Funding Opportunities will clearly indicate if Research.gov is required for proposal submission
  • Plans for Research.gov to completely replace FastLane for preparation and submission of all proposals by 2022
