A presentation on Executive Order 13950 Combating Race and Sex Stereotyping was made at the October 2020 MRAM. This Executive Order would, among other things, have prohibited the inclusion of concepts such as critical race theory, systemic racism and racial bias in diversity training programs. While UW’s position has always been to continue to engage in diversity work and to remain committed to building a more equitable community and world, it was unclear how EO 13950 might eventually affect diversity training specifically.

On his first day in office, President Biden reversed Executive Order 13950.  As a result, the development, analysis and delivery of robust training programs focused on diversity and based on current science may continue unencumbered.

Questions about this reversal may be submitted to research@uw.edu.

Thank you,

Joe Giffels
