Dear Research Community,

Starting this Monday, July 19, 2021: users will not be able to access NIH eRA modules via IE11

NIH eRA Commons users need to switch to a supported browser such as Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari or Microsoft Edge to access eRA systems as of Monday July 19, 2021.

Why will IE11 no longer be supported?

Microsoft announced they plan to retire Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) on June 15, 2022. As a result, many systems are ending support for IE11.

What does "end support" mean?

When a browser is no longer supported, it means that testing, bug patches, and security updates will not take place. Unsupported browsers have an increased risk of security issues, as well as new functionality or technology no longer working as expected.

We will continue to share impacts to our Research community as they come up. In the meantime, if you use IE11, even if you do not use NIH Commons, it may be a good time to consider switching browsers.

Thank you,
