We have more information about the Grants.gov downtime that begins Friday September 23, 2022 at 12:01 AM ET through Thursday September 29, 2022 at 11:59 PM ET.
We strongly encourage preparing and routing applications as Ready to Submit as early as possible to limit potential impacts. Please also note that a GIM 19 deadline for a 10/03 due date would be 9/28, not 9/27 as previously indicated.
As a reminder, due to anticipated volumes, GIM 19 waivers for a 10/03 sponsor due date will not be entertained.
NIH
NIH announced a few more details including information about Late Submissions and Corrective Submissions. It appears NIH’s ASSIST will remain the most flexible option for proposal preparation during the outage. Users will be able to initiate applications even while Grants.Gov is down but will not be able to send them until Grants.gov is available.
SAGE Grant Runner
Grant Runner applications cannot be initiated during the Grants.gov outage window. If you have already started a Grant Runner application prior to the outage, you can continue to work on it through the outage, however, you will not be able to check for errors, route or submit the application until Grants.gov is back up September 29th at 11:59 PM ET.
We recommend using ASSIST for any of the impacted due dates for the most flexibility, however, you will not be able to submit applications in ASSIST during the outage.
Grants.gov Workspace
Grants.gov’s Workspace will have the least amount of flexibility. As far as we know, that system will be down the entire time. Do not expect to use Grants.gov during its downtime.
Other Federal Sponsor Systems
We do not have additional information about the impacts to other sponsor systems outside of what they have communicated.
However, the NSF BAA System support team has confirmed that, as far as they know, their BAAM system will be live for Broad Agency Announcement Letter of Intent (LOI) and Proposal submissions that go through that system.
