Federal Grant Expense Substantiation – Central Requests for Supporting Information

Dear colleagues,

In response to new requirements imposed by many federal agencies, the University is required to provide additional detail substantiating some of our requests for reimbursement for expenditures incurred on federal grants. This does not impact the entire population of federal awards and it is difficult to ascertain which awards, and further, which line-item expenditures will be selected for additional review by federal agencies.

Please be aware that if a federal expenditure has been selected for further substantiation, the FPB team will first attempt to resolve the inquiry with information from Workday. If we are unable to do so, you will receive outreach from “GCA Federal Letter of Credit gcaloc@uw.edu” requesting information. Email inquiries from this address are legitimate and are critical to respond to in a timely manner.

This remains an evolving process at the federal level.

Thank you for your support.
