University policies are used to provide guidance to departments, minimize potential audit violations, and produce good results during control testing by state auditors. These policies have been implemented in accordance with guidelines of the State Accounting Manual (SAAM), and UW Administrative Policy Statements (APS). In addition to the above, adherance to these policies may also reduce audit frequency. Knowledge of these policies by departmental personnel will help ensure departments will be prepared.
