The new GASB standard on leases will become effective for the UW for our fiscal year beginning July 1, 2020. In simple terms, the new lease standard requires that we record a lease right-to-use asset and a related lease liability on our balance sheet for significantly all material lease contracts that have a lease term exceeding 12 months.
NSF has released an FAQ that addresses questions associated with proposal submission and award management that may arise in relation to COVID-19.

NIH has announced the new FORMS-F will be required for applications due on or after May 25, 2020. As of February 25th, Funding Opportunity Announcements that require Forms-F are available in Grants.gov. NIH will update their How to: Application Guides with FORMS-F information no later than March 25th.
For due dates occurring on or before May 24th, continue to use FORMS-E.

The University of Washington is restricting all official travel to China until further notice due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus and in light of travel warnings issued by the U.S. Department of State and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This includes travel to China that was budgeted for and awarded on a sponsored program made to UW.
This new PAPPG becomes effective for proposals submitted or due, and awards made, on or after June 1, 2020. Until then, guidelines contained in the current PAPPG (NSF 19-1) continue to apply.

Effective January 5, 2020, the Executive Level II salary (previously set at $192,300) was increased to $197,300. For awards issued in years that were restricted to Executive Level II including competing awards issued in FY2020, if adequate funds are available on active awards, grantees may rebudget to accommodate the most current Executive Level II salary level. However, sponsors will not provide additional funding to cover the increase in the salary cap threshold for existing awards.
