Updated Guidance -- on charging salaries if work directly related to a research award cannot be conducted due to COVID-19 disruptions
Post Award Fiscal Compliance has published guidance and FAQs here reflecting current UW policy on charging salaries to research awards when work cannot be conducted on the award due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This information is evolving and will be updated as necessary.
Q&A from April 9th 2020 MRAM:
EH&S Update
Q: If we don't know who has been infected, how will we know to self-isolate?
A: We ask the ill employee and/or applicable department representative for a list of all potential close contacts and we reach out to all of the close contacts directly and provide information to self-isolate.
If Work Directly Related to an Award Cannot be Conducted Due to COVID-19 Disruptions
Federal Sponsors have provided additional flexibility regarding how effort is expended on awards that have been disrupted due to COVID-19. The following guidelines have been developed for departments to follow in the event of a disruption.
All eRA modules (eRA Commons, ASSIST, IAR, iEdison, etc.) and informational websites (era.nih.gov, etc.) will be unavailable between 8am ET, Friday, April 17- Monday, April 20, 8pm ET.
This also means Grant Runner will be unavailable during this same time.
Greetings Colleagues,
NSF issued guidance in response to flexibilites in the OMB Memo 20-20. This memo allows Federal awarding agencies to repurpose their Federal assistance awards (in whole or part) to support the response to COVID-19.
Greetings Colleagues,
The NIH IT folks have been extra busy.
On Wednesday 4.08.2020, we began to see an option to log into the Commons and ASSIST using a 2-factor authentication process via login.gov.
Right now, this is optional. It will eventually be required, but NIH hasn't announced the timing, yet. You can continue using your standard login for Commons & ASSIST for the time being. We will let you know when the new process will be required.

Impacts to Proposals with Outgoing Subawards
We recognize that there is a quick turn-around time for responding to COVID-19 related opportunities and that many other proposals have been impacted by COVID-19.
We also understand that you may not receive all of the required subrecipient documents in time to include them in these proposals.
Greetings Colleagues,
eRA modules and data are migrating to the cloud. This means that all eRA modules (eRA Commons, ASSIST, IAR, iEdison, etc.) and informational websites (era.nih.gov, etc.) will be unavailable between 8am ET, Friday, April 17- Monday, April 20, 8pm ET.
Greetings Colleagues,
