As of 5/06, NIH temporarily disabled the No-Cost Extension functionality in eRA Commons. All requests for no-cost extensions (NCE) must be submitted as a prior approval request.
If you are planning to request a NCE on an NIH award, ensure you complete the NCE form as a prior approval request and include all required documents for prior approval with your OSP/GCA MOD in SAGE.
These include:
MODs already in OSP for NIH NCEs that do not include the required documentation will be returned so you can attach those and route them back to OSP.
In some cases, for a variety of reasons, if the prior approval option is not yet enabled in eRA Commons for an NCE request, OSP will reach out to NIH for help to determine the appropriate path for making these requests.
