There are two main operational roles in ECC:
- Coordinators
- Complete initial review (click the “Pre Review” button) of all ECC statements
- Make adjustments or changes to statement if necessary (PAAs/Shifts)
- Leave comments and attachments on the statement to help document unique/uncommon circumstances
- Assist Certifiers (faculty/PIs) with the Effort Reporting process to ensure accurate reporting of salary charges made directly to grants and cost shared effort performed.

- Certify ECC statements
- Individual faculty members or PIs, with assistance from departmental Coordinators, are ultimately responsible for accurate completion of Effort Reports and for making necessary adjustments to direct salary charges to grants and cost sharing required to reflect actual effort.
