Some users are currently experiencing issues when attempting to log into the eFECS Cost Share module or the Non-FEC Cost Share Tagging System. UW-IT’s eFECS team is aware of the issue and is working to deploy a fix.
The eFECS Cost Share module and the Non-FEC Tagging System will both be offline and unavailable on Friday, October 8th beginning at 9:30am. The systems should be offline for roughly one hour before coming back online.
Beginning in December 2021, students and residents who are listed as the PI on an IRB application are required to take a one-time, on-demand, e-learning tutorial about getting started with the IRB. The IRB 101 tutorial covers the basics of human subjects research and provides important practical information about navigating the IRB process at UW. Although the requirement takes effect as of December 1, the tutorial is available now.
NIH implemented a new set of compliance checks within eRA Commons for Clinical Trial Registration and Results Reporting.
We urge those handling NIH Clinical Trials and their Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPRs) to review more information from NIH.

The Office of Research is closely monitoring the possibility of a lapse in federal government funding (Federal Shutdown) after midnight this Thursday 9.30.2021.
During a Federal Shutdown:
Most federal agency operations will cease during a federal shutdown. Expect a lack of federal communications related to your proposals and awards. Federal agencies may temporarily stop making payments.
On 10.04.2021, NSF's revised Proposal and Award Policy and Procedures Guide (PAPPG) 22-1 comes into effect.
This means the new NSF-approved SciENcv and Fillable PDF formats for the Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending Support are required as of 10.04.
Effective April 2021, NIH has made a childcare allowance available on its NRSA Fellowship awards. The maximum amount of the allowance is $2,500 per budget year per fellow (not per child).
Fellows may now be reimbursed for qualified childcare expenses on NRSA Fellowship awards.
