Identifying and Reacting (quickly) to an RFA/P: Tips & Strategies for PIs and Support Staff
On October 5th, 2020, NSF will require the NSF-Approved Formats for Biographical Sketches & Current and Pending Support documentation. NSF systems will have automated compliance checks in place which will prevent proposal submissions or completion of post award actions if these approved formats are not used.
NIH recently announced NOT-OD-20-164: Charging Personal Protective Equipment to Grants and Cooperative Agreements as Direct Costs.
This new policy provides criteria for when it is appropriate to charge PPE as direct costs on Clinical Trial and Clinical Research awards. It does not apply to other awards.
We realize there have been a lot of regulatory and sponsor policy updates recently, particularly in the quickly changing areas for reporting Foreign Interests and Current and Pending or Other Support. There have also always been questions about Who is considered an Investigator. In response, we have updated and added some new web resources. Please share these widely.

The Office of Research invites applications to the Fall 2020 round of the Royalty Research Fund (RRF) grant program. Proposals are due Monday, September 28, by 5:00 PM. Awards will be announced by January 15, 2021.

Effective August 12, 2020, there are some changes in how the Human Subjects Division (HSD) is identifying the human subjects research that is allowed during the COVID-19 pandemic. These changes draw upon improved knowledge about how to effectively manage the risk of COVID-19 infection.
NSF announced that as of July 27th, 2020, Research.gov enabled line M (cost sharing) for programs with mandatory cost sharing requirements. The proposal Cover Sheet and proposal upload screens also now support Single Copy Documents.
