NIH Salary Cap 2019
Effective January 6, 2019, the Executive Level II salary (previously set at $189,600) was increased to $192,300. For awards issued in years that were restricted to Executive Level II including competing awards issued in FY2019, if adequate funds are available on active awards, grantees may rebudget to accommodate the most current Executive Level II salary level of $192,300. However, sponsors will not provide additional funding to cover the increase in the salary cap threshold for existing awards.
The NIH eRA communications office is continuing to have intermittent issues with the submission of RPPRS that include publications. They have also had issues with publications in xTRACT.
eRA is currently working to resolve the issue. We will send an update when more information is available.
In the meantime, we recommend you do not submit any RPPRs that include publications until this is resolved.
Thank you,
The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP)
Some of you may have been wondering where the proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 benefit rates are and why they haven’t been published yet.
Coming into a new budget year for the state always causes a delay in receiving the healthcare premium. There are also some other central office decisions still in process which require more collaboration than in previous years.

The Office of Research is pleased to announce the updated Faculty Grants Management Online Refresher. As you know, Principal investigators (PIs) must participate in a Faculty Grants Management (FGM) workshop when they have active grants that are funded by an external sponsor. They are also required to take a refresher course every four years – the new online course meets that requirement. This forty-five minute module-based course is designed to give a brief overview of research compliance and to highlight recent changes in research administration and policy.
