Governor Chris Gregoire signed an Operating Budget on May 2, 2012 that includes a proviso that orders the director of the Department of Enterprise Services to give written approval before any state agency can make a passenger vehicle purchase that will stay in the US. This proviso is still in effect for state agencies, and is the first step in purchasing a passenger vehicle. There is also an Executive Order that states any state agency with over 100 vehicles must employ professional fleet services. To comply with this order means that a department must work with Fleet Services before any vehicle can be purchased. Currently, the person to talk to is Dan Eden (221-3202, edend2@uw.edu). He will work on getting the written approval from the Department of Enterprise Services.

If there is a department that has a vehicle that was purchased without going through Fleet Services and it is in the United States, they should contact Fleet Services to inquire on how to comply with UW/State policy.
