As the University plans for the possibility of a graduate student strike, departments should be aware that some delivery drivers and freight carriers may choose not to cross picket lines. As a result, certain deliveries to campus could be delayed or interrupted.
Of particular concern are deliveries of critical research and operational supplies, including compressed gases, cryogens, hazardous materials, and other specialty laboratory products that may have limited local availability.
Departments are encouraged to review:
- Review current inventory levels for critical supplies
- Place orders as early as practical
- Consider whether additional inventory is needed to support essential operations during a potential disruption
- Develop contingency plans for activities that depend on time-sensitive deliveries
Procurement Services is monitoring the situation and will continue to communicate any known impacts to suppliers or delivery services. Departments with questions regarding critical supply needs are encouraged to contact Procurement Services.
Thank you for your proactive planning and support of university operations.
