If manual receiving is required, who does it? The users who place the order? Can we set up the system so that a single individual handles all the receiving?

Organizations can either have the users who place the orders receive (preparers or requesters) or they can set up to have a central receiver. By default, receiving is decentralized, i.e, the preparer or requester can receive. If organizations need to have central receiving, they must contact Procurement Services to set it up.

How does eProcurement receiving work? What do you mean by "manual receiving"?

In the initial campus rollout, when a requistion is fully approved and an eprocurement EI order is generated, receipts will be automatically be generated and can be seen on the receipts tab. The system will automatically receive the items at the time of invoice. This automatic handling of receipts is referred to as "auto-receiving".

Are there any campus-wide mandatory receiving rules?

For the initial rollout, everything will be auto-received at invoice time. Campus users will not need to take any action. They will see a new Receipts tab on both the Requistion and Order Summary pages of the eProcurement user interface.

There will be several departments pilot testing additional receiving functionality during the October timeframe. During that time, Procurement Services will create an intake process to gather receiving paramaters from campus departments who want to implement additional functionality such as Central Receiving in the future.
